Changing the copper market

AMMC in January-June 2013 increased production of copper cathode by 1.8% compared with the same period of the year 2012 – to 49.5 thousand tons, told the newspaper “New Century” representative plant.

At the same time, due to the decrease in supply of zinc concentrate, the company has reduced zinc production by 24% – to 22.2 thousand tons.

In 2012, AMMC produced 95.6 thousand tons of copper and 61.1 thousand ton of zinc.

Raw material base AMMC are deposits of copper-porphyry Kalmakyr and Sarah-Ceku (Tashkent region), the deposit of lead-zinc-barite ore Uch-Kulach (Djizzak) and ore deposit Khandiza (Kashkadarya).

The company produces refined copper, zinc, iron, lead concentrate and other products. Currently, the design capacity of the plant is 147,000 tonnes of copper cathode per year. The share of AMMC also accounts for about 90% of silver and 20% gold in the country.
